ESIP UPDATE: 04.2.18

Good Morning –

I was recently elected to the Open Geospatial Consortium's Architecture Board. This is part of an ongoing effort between ESIP and OGC to collaborate more. As part of that new role, I wanted to alert you to a recent request for input into a Professional Certification program by a survey. Details on survey and certification are below.

The other major highlight this week is from the Finance Committee: We have limited travel funding for ESIP 2018 Summer Meeting session speakers. Funds are available to support external speakers for breakout sessions at the ESIP Summer meeting. The travel funding request deadline has been extended to April 30, which is the closing date for the Summer ESIP call for sessions. Please submit your travel funding requests to esip-ficom@lists.esipfed.org. All details are here

Thanks & have a good week,

Erin – Executive Director, ESIP

Telecon Highlight:
Usability, EnviroSensing and Disaster Lifecycle will all be discussing Summer Meeting sessions. Disaster Life Cycle is also planning to discuss potential contributions to 2018 AGU Fall Meeting and Operational Readiness Levels.

Visioneers will continue the 20th Anniversary conversation started last week, discussing small ways we can celebrate ESIP's milestone looking back and looking forward beyond the meeting.

Around the Federation News
The OGC invites you to complete an online survey to help improve our understanding of the potential market for such a professional certification program. The program would allow individuals to achieve certification that confirms their competency in specific OGC standards. The program would therefore focus primarily on OGC standards, thereby avoiding overlap with certification programs offered by OGC members and alliance partners. The survey will be open for responses until April 5th 2018.
