ESIP also accepted five new member organizations at the meeting, bringing total membership in the ESIP Federation to 180 organizations. The new ESIP members include a leader in advancing Earth and space science and one of the four national libraries of the United States.
The new ESIP members are:
American Geophysical Union (AGU)
Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science (CUAHSI)
Data Semantics Laboratory at Wright State University
National Agricultural Library (NAL)
Northwest Knowledge Network (NKN)
ESIP provides neutral space for virtual and face-to-face workshops, technical meetings and conferences in support of community-driven collaborations that address Earth science data and information issues. ESIP community members are exposed to new technology and emerging concepts in Earth data science, and work to advance Earth science information best practices in an open, transparent fashion. Membership in ESIP is voluntary, and open to organizations that work at the intersection of Earth science data and supporting technologies.
“It is a privilege to welcome these five organizations to the ESIP Federation,” said ESIP President Peter Fox. “The knowledge and expertise of our members gives ESIP a unique capacity to provide practical solutions to the challenges related to Earth observations data. We look forward to engaging these new members in ESIP’s collaborative activities.”
About ESIP
The Federation of Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) is a community of innovative science, data and information technology practitioners. ESIP members catalyze connections across traditional institutional and domain boundaries to solve critical Earth science data stewardship, information technology and interoperability issues.
