Wildfire

May 14 @ 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM EDT
Event Series (See All)

We will review the NASA Wildfire Tracking Lab’s method for identifying and monitoring fires across North America using VIIRS active fire detections. This data is easily accessible via API and browser-based tooling, setting a blueprint for using open data and open software to push forward research efforts while still being useful for local stakeholders. Next steps for this team include collaborating with the NASA FireSense project to work directly with fire analysts to evaluate the use of satellite data in fire spread modeling.
