Data Stewardship Committee

We will have an invited presentation by John Moses (SSAI/GSFC ESDIS) titled “Earth Observation Data Preservation: Then On-Premises, Now in the Cloud.” John, who has an extensive and outstanding career with NOAA and NASA, will review traditional preservation practices, introduce NASA’s cloud data preservation strategies, and aim to start a broader community discussion on organizational approaches and best practices for preserving data and information in the cloud. If you are developing cloud preservation strategies, migrating data and information to the cloud, or already managing data in cloud environments, we encourage you to attend and join the discussion.

Note on Annual Registration: Your registration is valid for all meetings within the current calendar year. To maintain a secure environment and ensure our community lists are up-to-date, we perform an annual reset each January. You will be invited to re-register for your preferred Collaboration Areas at the start of the new year.
This Committee meets monthly to discuss updates across ESIP Partner organizations that relate to data management, preservation, and access. The group is a standing committee tasked by ESIP’s governance to help the community determine and evolve leading practices for Earth science data.
