Physical Samples Cluster: Shaping the Future of SESAR

SESAR is an allocating agent of IGSNs and offers sample management services to support sharing, open access to, and discovery of physical samples. This webinar will cover recent changes to the IGSN, its impacts on SESAR, and our plans for migration to the iSamples architecture. Our goal is to identify user community needs and engage with members to help shape and improve the future of SESAR.

Open Science Cluster: Connect Data Through FAIR and CARE

The Open Science Cluster is starting a series of webinars looking at open science through different lenses and projects. Andrea Thomer from the University of Arizona will present “Past Global Change Research: Connecting Data Systems and Practitioners through FAIR and CARE practices.” Join via the ESIP Community Calendar on Tuesday, May 23 at noon EDT.

The session will cover how to develop communities of practice around the open science principles FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) and CARE (Collective benefit, Authority to control, Responsibility, and Ethics).

Operational Ethics Cluster: Resources Survey

The new Operational Ethics Cluster is looking to source resources from the research community to help the group think about ethics and diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice around Environmental data science.

Leave a suggestion in the Google Form and  look at the resources other people have already suggested.

Biological Data Standards Cluster: Feedback Requested

To help new data managers, the Biological Data Standards Cluster created the Biological Observation Data Standardization: A Primer for Data Managers and wrote about the project on our Merge blog. The project continues to grow — check out the project's evolution in their GitHub repo and provide feedback.
