ESIP UPDATE: 10.12.21

ESIP,

Good morning! It is with great excitement that I introduce you to ESIP’s new Communications Manager, Allison Mills! Allison brings a blend of media experiences in natural resource journalism, university public relations, social media, web analytics, and multimedia experience. Allison most recently worked at Michigan Tech and still lives in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula where she also moonlights as a dance teacher and farm hand (or rather snuggles baby goats while her partner runs the farm). She has great enthusiasm and has really hit the ground running. Allison is excited to connect with and share stories about ESIP's community, and you can reach her at allisonmills@esipfed.org, connect on LinkedIn, or follow her @aw_mills on Twitter where she is a #MapMonday lurker. She will be dropping in upcoming collaboration area telecons, so please help her feel welcome and reach out anytime with communications questions.

The popular science storytelling event Ignite@AGU is back and in person at this year’s 2021 AGU Fall Meeting! Sponsored by NASA’s Earth Science Division and held in partnership with ESIP, Ignite@AGU enables scientists to showcase their professional and personal interests through creative 5-minute talks. Submissions are due Monday, Nov.1st. Up to 10 talks will be selected and we encourage individuals at any career stage to submit! Check out the 2019 and 2020 Ignite@AGU talks for inspiration.

Ignite@AGU will be held on Dec. 16th at an outdoor, covered venue and will follow all local COVID-19 guidance. Following AGU Fall Meeting covid guidance, you must be fully vaccinated to attend. For those attending virtually, no fear, we will hold a ‘watch party’ of the live event in Jan. 2022 with all of our speakers available for live chat. Look at the website for more details on how to submit.
