Notes for session organizers

Today is also the last day to send in your request for speaker comps. Session organizers can submit a request for one speaker comp for first-time attendees presenting in their session. Email staff@esipfed.org with questions.

WIS 2.0 Introduction to Industry Workshop (June 22)

The webinar will introduce WIS 2.0, its implementation plan, and WIS2 in a box, to the industry to prepare for the transition and to explore opportunities for synergies to foster WIS 2.0 implementation in a short timeframe. Join the workshop online via Zoom on June 22 starting 9 a.m. EDT.
 

The Carpentries Community Discussions (June 23)

The series focus on support development of The Carpentries Toolkit of IDEAS (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility Strategies). On June 23 at 3 p.m. UTC, Brynn Elliott, Accessibility Manager for The Carpentries, will discuss development of the new toolkit in support of accessibility.
 

Professionalizing Data Stewardship (June 30)

This webinar will present initial outputs from the Research Data Alliance’s Professionalizing Data Stewardship Interest Group (PDS-IG) and discuss potential directions for future work. Register via Zoom and join the call on June 30 at 10 a.m. EDT.

The Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Graduate Fellowships (CSGrad4US) through the National Science Foundation (NSF) aim to increase the number of diverse, domestic graduate students pursuing research and innovation careers in the CISE fields. Lacuna Fund Invites Proposals to Develop Inclusive Climate Datasets (Due July 17)

The two funding tracks focus on machine learning datasets for equitable climate outcomes in climate and energy as well as climate and health. Proposals are due July 17 and the Lacuna Fund website has the full requirements and submission portal.
 

Let’s Talk About Heat Challenge (Due July 22)

EPA has launched the Let’s Talk About Heat Challenge to protect public health by raising awareness of health risks from extreme heat. The challenge seeks innovative solutions that show how communities of different sizes and in different parts of the country create effective communication strategies to inform and warn people of the risks of extreme heat and offer ways to keep safe during the hottest days. The challenge is open now through July 22 and there is an informational webinar on June 22 at 2 p.m. EDT
 

Midwest Big Data Hub: Open call for proposals (Due Aug 1)

Midwest Big Data Hub has issued a call for proposals for “Building Data-Enabled Resilient Communities.” The org invites proposals for collaborative activities that will further develop collaborative cross-sector partnerships through the Hub’s Smart & Resilient Communities Priority Area.
