ESIP UPDATE: 04.23.18

Good Morning & Happy belated Earth Day –

This week we are supporting NOAA's annual Environmental Data Management WorkshopApril 23rd and 24th. There's tons of great presentations and we are making all sessions available for free via remote participation (and recording)! Schedule and remote participation details are listed on Sched

ESIP will post the next class of new members on May 1. If your group has been considering joining ESIP, please submit your application this week. Details for joining are here

This summer, we are intentionally making the meeting more sustainable by taking the pledge to Skip the Straw and reducing our single use plastics (h/t to Danie Kinkade's daughter, Meredith, for leading this effort and getting it on our radar!). If you have ideas for making ESIP meetings more sustainable, join Visioneers this Wednesday. Session proposals and speaker travel requests are due next Monday, 4/30 and registration is open – links below.

Thanks & have a good week,

Erin – Executive Director, ESIP

Telecon Highlight: This week is from the Documentation Cluster – they meet TODAY at 2 ET/Noon MT. The focus of the call will be an update from Ted Habermann on the ISO 191* family of dialects. Three ISO standards have recently been updated with changes required to support NASA requirements: ISO 19115-1 and ISO 19157 were amended, and ISO 19115-2 was revised. The presentation will describe the changes in terms of specific use cases. So come with your questions, and learn how you can better document things like personal identifiers in your favorite metadata dialect!
