Everything old is new again. I'm excited to be coming back to serve as ESIP President, and particularly looking forward to learning how our relatively new single organizational model has developed in the time since I last served in an ESIP leadership role. Building on the idea of learning, in the closing plenary at the ESIP Winter meeting I highlighted the need for all of us to exercise our curiosity about what is happening in ESIP. I have always enjoyed the small and big connections that I've been able to make when attending different cluster or working group sessions outside of my primary focus, every time broadening my understanding of the what and how of ESIP as a community. In the spirit of flexing our curiosity muscle and expanding the connections in the network that ESIP is, I encourage you to take every opportunity you can to engage with other groups in ESIP and learn what you can learn and contribute to their activities. Happy 2019 and I look forward to seeing you somewhere out there.
Best,
Karl Benedict, ESIP President 2019
