ESIP UPDATE: 10.25.21

Hello,

Thank you all for the warm welcome to ESIP! The communications manager position is new to me — and new to the org. The goal is to help support and share the collaborations, community, and data exchange that makes ESIP what it is.

There is a lot going on. I'll be hopping on telecons, joining webinars, reading a ton, and I welcome background info, trend articles, videos, neat infographics, and other inspiration to get up to speed on the work you do. Plus, I'd like to amplify the reach of interesting stories and resources. One way you can help is following ESIP on Twitter @ESIPfed and on LinkedIn

If you're looking for more ways to plug in, read on and make sure to check out the Public-Private Partnerships Cluster survey, Ignite@AGU opportunity, our Next Innovation Webinar this Friday, and enjoy a reflection on data storytelling

Next Innovation Webinar: 3D-printed weather stations for citizen science, education & low-cost measurement

The rise of low-cost Internet of Things (IoT) platforms and 3D-printing technologies led to many innovations. With a wide array of sensors befitting weather measurement, and the subsequent rise of inexpensive, high quality 3d-printers, weather stations have made for fertile ground for weather measurement. Keith Maull and Agbeli “Ag” Ameko from NCAR will talk about IoTwx, an IoT-based 3d-printed weather station that provides a flexible platform for research, education, and citizen science. Register for the webinar taking place on Friday October 29th at 2:00 PM ET/11:00 AM PT and read more.

The ESIP 2021 Webinar Series, focused on the annual theme Leading Innovation in Earth Science Data Frontiers, is generously sponsored by our partner SAIC. Learn more about the event below and check esipfed.org/webinars for details on future webinars.
