Sustainable Data Management Cluster

ACTIVE

What we do: Investigate methods to keep data openly and freely accessible to all through the sustainable continuation of data management.

Why we do it: Free and reliable access to high-precision, accurate data is critical to repository preservation and understanding our world.

The Sustainable Data Management Cluster works for the continuation of scientific data management through better and more efficient practices for data management on a personal and repository level. We look into data resiliency, better collaboration between academia and industry, and improved meta and meta-meta data for better adherence to the intentions of the dataset and its creators.

We are currently working on data resiliency through the development of the Repository Crisis Scorecards, a tool for assessing an organization’s ability to withstand sudden shocks to their data management operations. Previous work includes implementing the CARE Principles in geoscience repositories and discussing value metrics for geoscience repositories.

We invite collaboration with anyone interested and look forward to discussions about the future of scientific data management with all of us there.

Join the Sustainable Data Management Cluster Cluster at their monthly meeting the 1st Monday of each month at 4pm Eastern.
