Join us 11/13: The management challenge of forestry LiDAR metrics grows exponentially as data density and forest area continually increase. Available tools such as FUSION and lidR conveniently handle the task of generating metrics but leave their management as an exercise for the user. SilviMetric was designed and developed by Hobu, Inc. in collaboration with Bob McGaughey of USDA Forest Service to holistically encapsulate the data management challenge of forestry metrics by leveraging open source technologies such as TileDB, PDAL, COPC, Dask, and NumPy. It provides this integration by offloading the massive time+space data challenge to TileDB, the extraction challenge to COPC/PDAL, the parallelization challenge to Dask, and the metric definition and customization challenge to NumPy. SilviMetric databases can be continually updated, sliced by time or space, and delivered via ubiquitous cloud infrastructure. These features make SilviMetric well suited to modern data infrastructures and enable it to provide a management system for continental scale voxelized LiDAR metrics.

Monthly on the second Thursday. Join via Zoom. All meetings are scheduled in U.S. Eastern Time Zone. Convert to your time zone.

What we're working on: Help us define the future as we open the doors to open wildfire science and proactive solutions in wildfire management. The newly formed ESIP Wildfire Cluster invites your input to help us define the future of wildfire management.
