Open Science Cluster
ACTIVE
What we do: Build a foundation around open science, yielding champions of open science community.
Why we do it: Open science opens the doors of collaboration and can make Earth science data and workflows more accessible.
Cluster Summary
Open science is exciting, but it is not simple or easy. There are complicated questions, like costs, business models, and incentive and disincentive structures that all need to be examined. That is what our Cluster explores.
The Open Science Cluster hosted a series of webinars and is gathering community input to create a community paper on the Five Pillars of Open Science. We want to understand the community’s perspectives on open access, open data, open software, open peer review, open collaboration, and beyond.
We envisage building a robust community, equipped with best practices and toolkits that are readily translatable, transferable, and shared broadly amongst ESIP stakeholders interested in embracing open science.
