Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) is applying to participate as a second-year mentoring organization for Google Summer of Code.  As an umbrella organization (e.g. an organization of organizations), ESIP gets to provide the amazing opportunity for our members to participate in Google Summer of Code through their home institution!

Incubator

The ESIP Lab provides small development grants for members to build or improve upon technology that makes Earth data matter.

Projects enter through an RFP and last 6 months.
Awards $5,000 – $10,000.

Synthesis Workshops

ESIP Lab coordinates in-person synthesis-style activities where parties come together to work on a common problem.

Synthesis activities generally come about after an ESIP Lab challenge, incubator project, or idea-gathering activity.

Technology Evaluation

ESIP Lab coordinates independent technology evaluation.

ESIP Lab coordinates the selection of evaluators, creation of test plans, communications, and reporting.

Evaluation can tackle the “valley of death” between technology development and infusion.

FUNding Friday

FUNding Friday is an annual mini-competition held every ESIP Summer Meeting. $5,000 awards are given to members & $3000 awards are given to students.
